The Blazing Sun of Summer 11x14" Acrylic on Canvas

Absolutely love how this one turned out. Made this one while hiding out in the basement to escape the extreme heat we had. It's a reminder to not complain about the heat because winter will be here all too soon.

Another hidden lesson that came from creating this painting was overcome the fear of changing something and to listen to my instincts. One of the challenges every artist faces is finding the balance between fiddling more with a painting and pushing through this discomfort and when to leave it alone and call it done. Messing with something too much can muddy the painting and leaving something as is can end up leaving the painting feeling like there's a gap that is unfinished. It takes courage to mess with something that looks pretty good but it's missing that one little thing that would make it great. The fear creeps in because in the past I have tried to make one little tweak on something only to mess up the painting or change it into something completely different 😳. Well that happened on this painting. I had completed the painting, took a few pictures and walked away to let it dry. Came upstairs and looked at the pictures and felt like the bottom left corner wasn't balanced but it was close and I didn't know if I was just being too picky or if it was something that I should go back and fix. I am glad I listened to that quiet intuition and went back to adjust it because the final version turned out perfect and gave it a much more balanced and cohesive feel to the overall painting. In the end it became a lesson to remember to act on those intuitive nudges even when things feel like it's too hot 🔥 🥵 to move 😁.
